No. The messages are displayed like that from putty terminal window.
The problem seemed to be with glibc.It was upgraded to
glibc-devel-2.4-31.1 from glibc-devel-2.4-25 version. But one thing I
didn't understand was the same swish-e seems to compile on the machine
with same OS of same version with glibc-devel-2.4-25 version.
The code snip given by you below compiled fine.
