I'm not too sure on how to output the headers in the php version. Just did a
test, it doesn't seem to work only when "*" is used in quotes, i.e.
swishtitle='blah*', if it's used as blah* then it works fine.

Oh, I didn't know which php code you were using.
So, can you look at the headers returned by swish for the two queries
and see if there's any difference?
Someone with php experience will have to jump in here...
