I'd suggest years.

Here's the official response:

    "None of the core swish-e developers have done significant UTF coding, and
     none have a business need to support UTF."

We'd all like to do it, but until someone with a need for UTF also takes the 
time to write the code, it won't happen.

I think joshr was going to post a fuller response about this on the 
swishewiki.org site.
