Bill, thanks for your help - this is odd I am using Solaris 8 on sparc I 
downloaded swish-e-2.5.2-2004-10-08.tar.gz, then gzcat 
swish-e-2.5.2-2004-10-08.tar.gz | tar xvf - cd swish-e-2.5.2-2004-10-08 
/configure LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/lib -R/usr/local/lib" make cd src then 
for convenience put all the files in the src directory cp 
./prog-bin/spider.pl.in ./spider.pl create/put nacl.pl nacl.config & 
site4.html here as well ./swish-e -c nacl.config -i site4.html -v0 -T 
properties

That's it, swishtitle doesn't show up unless I remove a metatag from site4.html
