The folks on the business side of things are asking me for an explanation of
how the "rank" is generated for each query.  I've looked at the rank.c code,
but unfortunately my C skills are not sufficient for me to make much
progress there.

Is there a quick, "layman's" explanation anyplace of how the Rank is
generated?  I didn't see anything in the docs, but maybe I missed it?
