Hi, yes it can, well, sorta. I've got swish-e using catdoc as an external
viewer (file filter) to pull the text out of word docs, and pdftohtml for
pdfs very reliably.

Just remember, you need to use "FileFilter" and external programs to read
the files, then pass that back to swish.

If only someone could tell me of a unix-based application to read Powerpoint
PPT, I'd be all set!
