That's by design.  I'll bet there's a not in the source about it....

in docprop.c

 /* When appending, we separate by a space -- could be a config setting */

Wow, normally I say something like "This will come back and bite me!"

This is what I was worried about:

<name>
   <first>bill</first><last>moseley</last>
<name>

PropertyNames name

So, what's the correct behavior?
