Mhh, we are indexing currently @20000 docs
(7 GBytes data: Winword, PDF, HTML, CSV/XLS).
...works fine and quite fast.
But having one directory (dir) with 1000 files, may be getting a little
slower, when swish tries to open the files.
This is no swish related problem, but a problem how the operating system
is handling large directory tables (if you e.g. using DOS/FAT filesystem
with such much files in one dir, you may get a penalty of 1 to 2
secs to access a file).
